For many people today, taking the time and effort in going to church is no longer as important as it was before and proof of that is the fact that church attendance has fallen significantly. This is quite true across all denominations, not only baptist churches. While there are so many different reasons why people no longer go to church, have you ever wondered why it still is of great value to do the opposite?
Jesus himself always found a way to go weekly worship.
You should know that Jesus always made sure He spent most of his time at the place of worship. What’s even more remarkable is that this commitment began when he was still young. This is unfortunately quite the opposite to how children today view church as many feel that they don’t need to go. Simply put, the fact that our Lord showed value on the importance of going to a place of worship means that we all must follow His lead.
Even early Christians went to weekly worships without question.
The New Testament revealed that the earliest Christians of this world made it a priority to gather every first day of the week (Sunday) to be with the Lord. The assembly of people was for good reason as everyone was keen on studying the Word of God and putting themselves in prayer. Considering how early Christians dedicated themselves to church back in the day, it’s painful to see the new generation has no longer the same commitment to go to church even if it really isn’t a burden.
God has told all of us to go to weekly worship.
God declared to the whole humanity that we all need to go to church to worship and that alone should make you realize how important it is to find your way back to church. Some things are meant to be obeyed and followed as they are part of God’s declaration and one of them is worship. It is everyone’s duty to go to church on a regular basis because it is what God has told us in the first place.
Going to church is good for you.
While you probably are thinking about so many other things to do on a Sunday or any other day that’s supposed to be spent in church, remember that there are six other days to do them. As much as it pains, some people just don’t go to church anymore because they no longer find a good reason to do so. But if you just give it one deep thought, you need to dig in and understand why churches exist in the first place. The Lord created the first day of the week for His people to spend for encouragement and spiritual edification. In other words, you must find yourself heading out to church not because you are doing God a favor; you’re doing it as a favor to yourself.
